I'm ENGAGED!
Ok, had to get that out of my system. But it's true. Nat asked me to marry him last Wednesday, which I guess would have been February 12. I had to wait until Monday to tell anyone though (except of course my family and a few select Lexingtonians) because of soroity stuff. I don't think Nat was too thrilled about that, but it was important to me, and he was a good sport and went along with it. I won't bore you with the details of how he proposed here, but if you're interested, just ask!!! I'll be glad to tell you the story. And yes, my ring is gorgeous. :-) What can I say? He's got good taste.
So anyway, I told everyone in chapter last night and then got about 4 million hugs...all of which were wonderful. Thanks girls!!! You all are the best!!! I have sworn my family to secrecy until I get home because I want to be able to tell people there. It's pretty big news in my life. So, no wedding plans yet. We're toying around with June 19, 2004 as the date, but that's still open to change assuming that something else major is happening that weekend.
That's as far as we've gotten with wedding plans, and I don't anticipate too much else happening until this summer. I guess we may look at a few things while we're in Memphis (where the wedding is going to be), but that's it. Definitely not dress shopping or anything like that, and no, I haven't picked bridesmaids yet, though I do have a good idea of who they will be.
Aside from that, things here are continuing to go well. Last quarter finished strong, as I had my highest GPA yet here at Rose, and this quarter looks to be promising for topping that one. Still working hard to get that GPA high enough to graduate with honors...4 quarters and 1 set of finals to go. Wish me luck!!!
I am keeping busy outside of school as well. I am the Career and Personal Development Director for Chi Omega, which kind of has the reputation of being the not so fun Cardinal Cabinet. However, I have been trying to brainstorm to come up with some new ideas for things for us to do. Last week we had the workout move of the week, which I think people enjoyed. I guess if they didn't I just didn't hear about it. At any rate, until someone starts complaining we will be doing that every couple of weeks. My team is wonderful, and very good about going along with me on my weird little ideas. :)
What else, what else....Oh! I am leaving the country for the first time ever in just a few weeks. Ok, so I'm only going to Canada, but it's still exciting for me. I'll be attending a Model United Nations conference in Ottawa from March 12-15. I'm pretty excited about it. There are 8 people going, and I am sure that we will have an absolute blast, even if the conference people are slave drivers that make us work 12 hours a day. I've got my passport and everything. Kinda silly to go to Canada I guess, but supposedly they've gotten a little more strick about people coming into the country. The US that is. Getting into Canada is easy, coming back to the US...not so much. At any rate, for the next 10 years I am covered. Nichole Parke can travel wheresoever she chooses. :-)
I'm also waiting to hear if I am going to hold a position on the SGA Exec board for the coming year. I'm pretty excited about that too. I guess the end of this year and next year are shaping up to be pretty eventful!!!
Next week is finals (only on Tuesday and Wednesday for me though!!!) and then I am out of here for awhile!!! I'll be at Nat's until March 4, then we're going to my house. When I was home in December I got to see some old friends from high school (many of whom I haven't seen since graduation!!!) It was great to see everyone, and hopefully I'll see some of you again soon. :-)
On that note, it's late and I am going to bed. Goodnight and sweet dreams!
